WINE DISTRICT
The vineyards in Veles wine district lie along the Vardar River and between high mountain ranges that dominate from east and west. This wine district belongs to the continental sub –mediterranean climate zone, however, its climate is warmer due to the more expressed sub-mediterranean influence.

The average air temperature per year is 13.3°С and the vegetation 17.9°С. During the summer period, the average monthly air temperature expresses high values with maximum temperatures that go even beyond 40°С. The winters are far from being harsh as in the rest of the wine districts in this climate zone.

There is a very small amount of rainfall and it is usually unevenly distributed. During the vegetation period, it is 284.1mm.

According to the drought index, this wine district belongs to the arid climate zone. The drought period, which is quite intense, lasts in the summer mounths.

This wine district is characterized by little presence and intensity of winds that, while heading towards the River Vardar through Veles and Kavadarci, drops.

Grape vineyards are cultivated on different soil types, mainly on diluvial soils (flat land), chernozem, vertisol (wavy land) and only rarely brown soil (hilly land).
